This basket full of tech and office supplies is not nearly as comfortable as my bed, a soft sweatshirt, or a Vera Bradley bag. Why Ebenezer chose this basket for a nap is anybody's guess.

Awww . . .
While Isabelle and Ebenezer often engage in sibling rivalry early in the morning and late at night, they also spend time together on their blanket on the couch.

Green Fringe Tastes Best
Like Isabelle, Ebenezer does not play with cat toys.
He would much rather gnaw on carpet fringe or bat
an unpopped kernel of popcorn across the kitchen
floor.

Ebenezer Kitty
Monday, I noticed a number of people crowded around a small, fuzzy kitten in the Student Center. A classmate who lives near me had acquired a cat from a homeless man standing outside a local Starbuck's. I pet the cat. One thing led to another. I'm now mom to a coal-black kitten named Ebenezer.
Why Ebenezer? While I wanted my cat to have a name that reflects my faith, I didn't want the usual Jonah, Noah, or Josiah. Ebenezer, which appears in the second stanza of the hymn Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, means stone of hope in Hebrew.
Initially, Isabelle reacted similarly to the only child whose parents bring home a new baby. She hissed. Their sibling rivalry has subdued somewhat. I have no doubt that they will become best friends.
