Who Done It?

I meandered into the kitchen this morning, just in time to watch Isabelle upend a vase of fabric flowers that had rested on the corner of a kitchen counter for almost two years.  The vase hit the corner of a bookshelf and shattered.  Issie promptly hid and Ebenezer reveled in the chaos.  As Murphy would have it, I was already running late.  A handyman was coming to install a light fixture in half an hour, and Ebenezer was scheduled to get his claws clipped shortly after that.  My mother and grandmother would be mortified to know that I had fake flowers in my posession.  They've been dumpstered.

Queso Blanco

When I returned home from church this past Sunday, I made a pot of Queso Blanco.  It tastes great but has no nutritional value whatsoever.  I had about a half-cup with blue corn chips on Sunday and another half cup on Monday.  On Tuesday, I threw the rest out.

She Likes It

Several days ago, UPS delivered a box from my aunt and uncle in South Bend.  Among other things, it contained a sweet fleece throw that Isabelle has adopted as her own.  This morning, she gingerly kneaded the fleece and began to purr.  It generally takes alot to get Isabelle to purr.  I think she likes the blanket.

Souper Bowl Sunday

Today, the Fourth Grade Sunday School kids held their infamous Super Bowl Party.  Everyone brought cans of soup, stew, etc. to donate to EFAA, the Emergency Family Assistance Association.  We played active games, acted out scenes from the Parable of the Soils in Matthew 13, and savored game day eats.

Asian Coleslaw

Good produce is more difficult to find and more expensive in the winter months.  Last night, I made Asian Coleslaw with a head of cabbage, some shredded carrots, and some chopped green onion.  Cabbage and carrots are available year round and are inexpensive.
