Blanketed with Love

Every baby needs a blanket. Though people did an incredible job of providing for my needs when I was born, special blanket never made the list of must-buys. My cousin Dana had her holy blanket. My friend Julianne had a much-loved green gingham baby quilt. When friends and acquaintances began having children, I made sure their babies got blankets.

Sew? Even though I'm from a generation that was required to take Sewing in Middle School and have seamstresses on both sides of my family tree, I don't sew. For years, I have aquired beautiful baby quilts from the Sewing Circle at my church in Boulder.  First Pres, which was founded in the 1870s, has had a quilting group for most of its history. Ladies meet weekly to quilt and hold two sales each year. The Sewing Circle makes not only baby quilts but also bed quilts, items for the home, and occasionally soft toys. Proceeds from the quilt sales fund various missions projects.
